Couple Shoot: Dos and Don’ts

Behind those aww-worthy shots of you and your better half lies a carefully laid out couple’s shoot plan and one badass photographer.

Looking to capture the magical moments that’s you? Here are our dos and don’ts!

Couple Shoot- Dos and Don’ts

Don’t Fake The Love!

Whether it’s a shoot for a Christmas card or your wedding announcement, the trick is to avoid awkward poses. An intimate shot needs to be authentic. Instead of forcing a moment, be your natural self and take time. You can ask the photographer to capture a candid rather than putting in the effort of making it staged.

Be careful of the nose smash as it can ruin an otherwise perfect picture.

Let Go of the Perfect Kiss

Let Go of the Perfect Kiss

Not every kiss has a picture-perfect tendency. Be ready for multiple tries and it’s always a better idea to hold a second before the actual kiss to get that million-dollar shot. If you’re unable to nail the right angle or face placement but still want to do the lovey-dovey shot, go for the forehead kiss or forehead touch.

Bring Pets

Pets are a one hundred percent a yes for a couple shoot. Nothing makes a couple more relaxed than playing with a pet and being in the moment. Not only will this allow you to get some really great shots of your beloved dog or cat, but the pictures will absolutely be insta-worthy and look great on your walls.

Be Subtle

Couples often make the mistake of blatantly showing off accessories, especially the engagement ring. Not only it looks pretentious but can take away the real genuineness of the moment.

If it’s an engagement or proposal shoot, the ring will find its way in the picture so there’s no need to be loud about it.

Back Shot

Walking away from the camera accompanied by a scenic background—what’s not to love? If you want to add a concluding shot to your wedding album or session, this is your perfect option.

The best thing is it doesn’t have to be staged and you get a chance to show the back of your dress, especially if there’s a train involved.

Go Nuts

Crazy poses add fun to the shoot for both the couple and the photographer. If there are laughs all around, you’ll be more comfortable with the photographer when posing for staged shots.

Wave your hands around, make weird faces and bring props. You don’t have to overdo it, but you can still get pictures to later reminisce on or have a hearty laugh.

hire a photographer

Before hiring, get to know your photographer and ask them about their favorite styles and poses. Don’t ever hire a photographer without looking at their portfolio.
