The Ultimate Engagement Photo Shoot Checklist
Plan the Date and Time Well in Advance
As with any project, it’s important to have a degree of flexibility when you’re deciding a time and date. While we aim to accommodate all our clients, we can’t always be available in your first picked slot. Therefore, select a number of dates and timings so we can plan your important day beforehand.
We’ve done a lot of wedding photography in Dallas, which is why we’re well versed in the kinds of aesthetic locations available to execute a truly breathtaking shoot. Feel free to research and let us know where you’d like us to capture your Kodak moment. We’re always here to lend you solid advice.
Pick Your #OOTD
This means you need to pick your ‘Outfit of the Day’—or outfits—beforehand. The location and timing of your shoot also influence your outfit choices. Make sure you pick according to the theme and that you try to stay away from too many clashing and loud prints. Many couples want a lot of varying accessories included in the shots. We recommend choosing and packing all of these in advance so you don’t stress out on the big day.
Bride Exclusive: Get Your Nails Done
This might seem finicky, but many brides in Dallas are unaware of this essential component of a photoshoot. We want your shoot day to fully represent your togetherness and love as a couple. This means we’ll include a bunch of aesthetic close up shots, especially of your hands held together! Getting your nails done before-hand is a great way to ensure the close ups are shots you love and will want to frame later on.
Comfortable Shoes Go the Distance
As photographers, we’ve seen it all. Different couples pick different terrains for their shoots and we always tell them one thing: make sure to pack super comfortable shoes. You’ll be thankful for them when you’re running from one spot to another, posing, and then making your way to another one. This way, your feet will stay relaxed and you’ll be able to look your best during the shoot.
Pick Your Poses
This is a fun one and if done right, it can even end up going viral, just like this cute couple’s shoot! Determine the kinds of loving, funny or silly poses you want to re-create with your partner on shoot day. If you’d like to consult with us, we’d be more than happy to help as well. Pre-planning helps bring out the best in your engagement photo shoot.
We hope our checklist has given you new ideas and helped you plan your shoot day better.
