For a shy person, a wedding photography session can be one of their worst fears.
A camera is pointed at you, you have to look perfect, people are staring… and now you can’t breathe properly.
But it’s okay. You’re not the first shy bride, neither are you the last. To make things easier for you, here are some tips that’ll help you look great in your wedding photos, without you breaking a sweat.
Preparing Before the Big Day
– Practice Smiling in Front of a Mirror
Your smile should be natural. So no big smiles that make your cheeks ache. Show some teeth, but make sure you don’t pull your lips inwards. Use celebrities as your guide for that red carpet smile. Or use your own photographs and try to imitate your natural smile. The more you do it, the easier it’ll be.
– Get Some Pearly Whites
For safer results, get a teeth whitening treatment, along with a professional cleaning. Follow the dentist’s instructions on post-treatment care. If you’re used to whitening your teeth yourself, do so at least a week before the big day. And stay away from red wine and coffee.
– Pay Attention to Your Hands
Any reason to get a manicure! Give your hands some attention and make sure they look clean and pretty. Also, if you’re wearing your engagement rings, have them polished a few days before the ceremony so they can really glitter and shine.
– Have a Makeup and Hair Trial
You can’t always be certain that what looks good in theory will look good on camera as well. Have a makeup and hair trial and make sure that your face doesn’t look too shiny. Also, factor in the weather conditions for that day, otherwise your expensive makeup might get washed off by sweat.
On Your Big Day
– Smize!
Follow Tyra Banks’ trick for the best photo, smizeor smile with your eyes. Think about your partner, the happiness of the day, the effort that went into it, the people that are there, and the memories to be had. You’ll shine!
– Try the Red Carpet Trick
Push your body back and angle it so you’re not standing like you would for a passport photo. Stand sideways and put your weight on your back foot, then smile. Practice this with your good side (if you feel you have only one), and try your best look.
– Lower those Shoulders
You’re doing it right now! Lower those shoulders and elongate your neck. Lift your chin up. You’ll feel a significant change in posture.
