We throw around the term timeless very causally when it comes to wedding photography. We consider any style that offers even a semblance of aesthetic balance to be in a category of its own, and to compliment it, we call it timeless.
Let us guide you through the idea behind timeless shoots and also how you can have a shoot that literally defies the concept of time:
Different Styles of Wedding Photography
- Classic/Traditional
The timeless factor for this style of photography is the inclusion of classic poses. You can decide the poses with your photographer. The background, the subject’s body language and attire is all adjusted to reflect the traditional man/woman pose. Although, thanks to a *lot* of creative photographers throughout the years, even the traditional style has gotten an upgrade.
- Photojournalism
This style does away with the poses. Instead, the photographer focuses on capturing a more spontaneous reaction. The photographer remains invisible and tries to take pictures that depict real emotion. Ergo, these photos are raw and often give a look of a documentary, which in itself can be quite satisfying to watch.
- Portraiture
This style of photography utilizes poses from traditional/classic photography and emphasizes the surroundings to capture a more focused image. These pictures are edgier and often use dramatic lighting and unique angles to emphasize certain aspects. They also include posed shots of the couple and family members as well, and are referred to as Fine Art because of their European style of aesthetics.
- High Fashion
Go all out in this shoot. In this style, the subject, the surroundings and most of all – the clothes – are all dramatized to look glamorous and artsy. The bride and groom are made to pose and look like they’re posing for a bridal magazine or blog.
However, since this is quite a challenging style, not many couples go for it. Unless they have a wedding photographer who specializes in the style and knows how to make the bride and groom feel comfortable enough to pose the way they want.
