I’ve worked on weddings too many to count in my past years as a wedding photographer in Dallas, TX. And in each wedding, I’m surprised by how I’m able to capture that unique beauty in every bride I come across.
That adorably sweet and shy smile, that nervous bout of candid laughter that just shows you how happy she is, or that glance she throws toward the doors, almost itching to go to her partner and begin her life as a married woman. These are just some of the factors that I strive to capture.
And for that, I have a short list of favorite poses that make it all possible.
The Window Pose
Rather than going for a standard pose, this stand near the window presents the beauty of light and balance for a very romantic shot. Whether it’s a silhouette or just the bride leaning against the frame, windows offer a gorgeous pose that just highlights the pristine look of their wedding dress as well.
Stairs
There’s something fairytale-Esque about a bride descending a staircase, looking like a queen at her finest. With this photo, the shot allows the photographer to capture the gown in a fluid state, which truly makes for an unforgettable picture.
Seated
With my style of photography, seated pictures offer a softer look for the bride. She’s going to be married in a while, but she’s all ready to walk down that aisle with her friends and family around her. The nervousness and anticipation clearly shows in such photographs and that’s what I love to capture.
Candid Laughs
There’s nothing better than a laughing bride. Candid photos are magical, since they capture the authenticity of laughter from someone who’s truly living the happiest day of their life. Such pictures, if captured in time, do become the central focus of the album since they represent joy in its purest form.
Through the Veil
Dreamy and soft, this look isn’t necessarily a portrait pose, but it’s a good variation of one. Though it is tricky to accomplish because of the focus, taking a photo of the bride through the veil presents a beautiful aesthetic that you can’t really accomplish through any other pose.
